Communication Protocols & Aide Training

As part of our continued focus on strengthening systems across the District, Pioneer will be implementing expanded training opportunities for instructional aides and support staff during the upcoming school year.

Training will focus on areas such as active supervision, student support strategies, professionalism, confidentiality, and communication expectations to help ensure consistency and strong support for students across all sites.

Safety & Security Camera Upgrades

Student and staff safety remains a top priority throughout the District. Over the summer, Pioneer will be installing upgraded camera systems across all school sites to improve campus safety and security.

These upgrades will provide improved coverage and monitoring capabilities to help support safe learning environments for students and staff.

Budget Update

Like many school districts across California, Pioneer continues to face financial challenges related to declining enrollment and rising operational costs. District leadership continues working carefully to monitor spending, evaluate staffing needs, and make responsible
financial decisions that prioritize students and maintain long-term stability. We appreciate the continued support and partnership of our
staff, families, and community.

As we close out the school year, I want to personally thank you for the support and partnership you have shown throughout my first year serving as Superintendent of Pioneer Union Elementary School District.

This year, I have had the opportunity to visit classrooms, attend events, and see firsthand the dedication of our students, staff, and families. I am grateful to be part of such a supportive and caring community.

As we move into the next school year under our District theme, “Laying the Foundation,” we will continue focusing on strong systems, positive learning environments, and student success.

Student Cell Phone Expectations Reminder

Pioneer Union Elementary School District would like to remind families of our expectations regarding student cell phones and personal electronic devices at school.

May 2026 Newsletter: Student Cell Phone Expectations ReminderIn accordance with Board Policy 5131.8 and Assembly Bill 3216, school districts are required to adopt policies that limit or regulate student smartphone use during the school day to support student learning, well-being, and school safety.

At Pioneer, student devices must remain turned off (or silenced) and kept out of sight during the school day, including during:

  • Class time
