The Pioneer Union Elementary School District
Our story started in Grangeville, where, in 1870, determined settlers built our first schoolhouse at the northwest corner of Grangeville Boulevard and 14th Avenue. With no county funds available, they raised money, hauled lumber from Visalia and the Sierras, and constructed a modest 16-by-18-foot building. Yesterday’s Pioneers helped to build the foundation of our community, and we continue with that mission: The Pioneer Union Elementary School District, in partnership with parents and the community, will build the foundation for student academic and social success by ensuring that all students receive rigorous instruction, support, and intervention in an enriching environment.
